Romney Quits? Republican Field Narrows!
As of today, Mitt Romney has suspended his campaign for the Republican Presidential nomination “for the good of the Republican Party”. Romney says he is concerned that continued divisiveness among the candidates will damage any chance for the Republicans to prepare a campaign capable of beating the Democrats in November. Whether the eventual Democratic candidate [...]
Dirty or Smart Politics on Super Tuesday?
As the votes started pouring in from the long-awaited Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses, the West Virginia caucus was the first state to announce a winner for the GOP side of the ticket. Final score was: Mike Huckabee 52%, Mitt Romney 47% and John McCain 1%. Did I just write 1% for John McCain? How [...]
From Florida to the White House?
The results came in last night for the Florida Republican Primary. As I watched the results being tallied from time to time, it appeared that for once the pollsters predicted results perfectly.
John McCain and Mitt Romney were in front from the very beginning, with Rudy Guiliani at third place, Mike Huckabee in fourth and Ron [...]
A President Like My Father!
Probably one of the most stunning after-effects of the BIG Barack Obama win in the South Carolina Primary, didn’t come out of South Carolina, but from an entirely different, and mostly unexpected, corner.
Carolyn Kennedy, daughter of the late-President John F. Kennedy has been pretty close-mouthed about her preferences for a Presidential candidate in the 2008 Campaign. [...]
Quiet Reflections on Politics
Well, it’s two days until the South Carolina and Nevada primaries, so we have time to catch our breath and reflect on the Primary season. While the candidates and their campaign entourages frantically work to get their messages out, there’s little to do for voters except study the issues and the candidates.
On the Democratic side, [...]
Albany School Board, reinvented
The Albany School Board is no longer split down the middle. Barbara Gaffuri, the longest sitting member, was selected as the new board president at last night’s board meeting. Melissa Mackey is the new vice president, a position that has been vacant for about nine months since the sudden and unexplained resignation of former board president Teneka Frost. Bill Barnette ascended to the presidential role and his vice president seat was left open because the board could not agree on a replacement.

NASA: Mike Griffin out, Charlie Bolden in?
When Barrack Obama takes the oath of office on January 20, NASA Administrator Mike Griffin will be clearing out the last of his possessions from his office and heading off to a new career in either academia or the aerospace business. At least, that’s the word circulating in the halls of power in Washington and among some of the better-connected space industry poobahs. According to these sources, Griffin’s resignation will be accepted on January 20, along with those of other Bush presidential
Meg Whitman for Governor of California?
Can’t think of anyone better: Meg Whitman fired the starting gun on the race to succeed Arnold Schwarzenegger as California governor on Monday when the former chief executive of eBay abruptly resigned from the boards of three companies. Ms Whitman, who continues to own a 2 per cent stake in eBay, the internet auction site, worked on John McCain’s presidential campaign and has privately expressed interest in running for California governor in 2010 as the Republican candidate. Her resignation
Video: Ron Paul Opines About Gaza Conflict, Gets It Wrong As Usual
Failed presidential candidate Ron Paul decided to once again don his tin foil hat and say something dumb — this time about Israel’s invasion of Gaza. Paul calls the invasion a “preemptive war” waged by Israel to “prevent a problem that might come” and “who knows for what other reasons.” Ron Paul does occasionally say something worthwhile when it comes to economic matters, but when it comes to foreign policy the guy is a f*cking idiot. Either Ron Paul is just too stupid to understand what’s

Florida donor gets free Obama trip
The Presidential Inaugural Committee -- which is bringing 10 supporters to DC for several days of Inaugural celebrations -- has picked the first winner: Cynthia Russell of Newberry. She and a guest will get tickets to the welcome ceremony, the president-elect's swearing-in, the inaugural parade, and an inaugural ball. Here's what Russell wrote about the inaguration: "I'm a single woman who has been building homes for over 18 years. I've supported myself and have been able to help out my mother
Democracy in Africa - Ghana is the Pacesetter [video]
Ghana is clearly way ahead of its African peers in the continental race toward establishing a lasting democracy. Another election has come and gone, and in spite of the several opportunities that existed to foment trouble, the players didn’t. A presidential race fought so closely as Ghana’s ought to have transitioned into a gory bloody [...]
