A Messy Week in Politics!
We’ve all seen the results of last week in the 2008 Presidential campaign. Mitt Romney started the week winning big in Michigan, where Hillary Clinton won the Democratic nod (as the only serious Democratic contender on the ballot). Then, rushing off to Nevada, Clinton and Barack Obama were running neck-and-neck, with Clinton winning by a [...]
Quiet Reflections on Politics
Well, it’s two days until the South Carolina and Nevada primaries, so we have time to catch our breath and reflect on the Primary season. While the candidates and their campaign entourages frantically work to get their messages out, there’s little to do for voters except study the issues and the candidates.
On the Democratic side, [...]
Morning-After Politics!
The results of the Michigan Primary are in and perhaps some lessons were learned. Surprisingly, Republican voters overwhelmingly selected Mitt Romney, though polls showed him evenly neck-and-neck with John McCain, or even behind McCain in several polls, prior to the votes. Mike Huckabee came in third with only 16% of the votes.
So the top three [...]
Another Busy Tuesday in Politics!
Today is crunch day for three of the Republican candidates in Michigan. According to polls (yeah, right!), Mitt Romney and John McCain are tied for frontrunner, with Mike Huckabee functioning as the ’spoiler’ at present. No one really seems to know what will happen in a state that is falling-apart financially and, apparently, politically.
John McCain is calling [...]
Political Lingo: What is SUPER TUESDAY?
As you watch your local and national news, you hear many references to “SUPER TUESDAY”. Well, what exactly does that mean? As you read that Hillary Clinton is regrouping for a big win on “SUPER TUESDAY”, you may wonder why that is so important. So let’s take a look at how the primaries and the ‘hunt [...]
GABRIEL COSMETICS! GREEN CHI TUESDAYS!
0 Reviews Sweetassgal here, to bring you the best of all things natural and organic by way of Green Chi Tuesdays! New Years Eve was a quiet affair for me this year. With the hubby off quading in Nevada, two teenage kids both going to parties now, and a 12:30 curfew to wait up for I had to be responsible Mommie and trade in the celebratory cocktails for a 4 hour “Absolutely Fabulous” marathon

IS HARRY REID in trouble in Nevada? “As hard as it may be to believe, given Reid’s political stature, Harry has difficulty connecting with people. Before large groups, he projects a zombie vibe. In person, he appears preoccupied. Looks like a smile might hurt. Never seems comfortable. And perhaps his greatest re-election liability is that he too quickly defaults to bunker mentality with constituents, creating unnecessary suspicion and animosity. Unlike his mentor, former Gov. Mike O’Callaghan,
New Film Demonstrates the Need to Protect the Rogue River
"Run, Rogue, Run," a short film which American Rivers helped produce, will be shown this Saturday at the 7th annual Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival in Nevada City. The film takes viewers on a journey down the Wild and Scenic section of the Rogue River in southwestern Oregon and explores the need for protecting the river and its salmon and steelhead streams.

Having lived in Nevada and
Having lived in Nevada and having had Harry Reid as my representative I can say that his endorsement only means this is a "Yes" man getting the post. Not necessarily a good thing for this country. Some Democrats expressed strong support for the choice, with Harry Reid of Nevada, the Senate majority leader, describing him as “one of the finest public servants I have ever served with and dealt with since he left the White House.”

Las Vegas Meets Snow
The world is getting weirder and weirder each year. After hail fell in Africa a few months ago, now it snowed in Las Vegas for the first time ever. We’re talking about the Nevada Desert here, snow isn’t supposed to fall in the desert. But, as you can see from the photos the impossible just became possible. I wonder what’s next, the ice cap will start to melt? Oh…wait…
