Obama’s Winning Everywhere!

Just in case you’ve been visiting a far planet for the last few days, I thought I’d let you know that Barack Obama is on a roll. He won everywhere this past weekend, even in Maine, where Hillary Clinton’s strong female support couldn’t pull her to the top. Now, both candidates are halfway to the required number of delegates to secure the Democratic nomination. It’s so close at present that there’s no point in even bothering to count. What matters is what happens from here.

Hillary, who was originally expected to be a shoo-in for the Democratic nomination has seen first her lead, then her finances, then her chances evaporating. But, don’t write her off just yet. In another shake-up in her campaign, Hillary replaced her Campaign Manager and longtime advisor, Patty Solis Doyle, with Maggie Williams, her former White House Chief of Staff. Everyone’s trying to put a ‘kinder and gentler’ face on things, saying that Doyle will stay as a valued advisor but that the campaign has gone on too long for her to continue with the fulltime demands of Campaign Chairman. I believe them, don’t you?

The fact is, Maggie Williams is the one who came in after Clinton’s surprise defeat in Iowa and pulled things together for the win in New Hampshire. Maybe she can make more miracles for Clinton. The former ’shoo-in’ candidate sure needs a boost at this point. Did she peak too early? We shall see.

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, Mike Huckabee continues to insist that the race is not over. Although John McCain is so close to locking-up the nomination, Huckabee insists that he will continue to run and is hoping that Mitt Romney will swing his delegates over to him. In my opinion, the chances of that are slim-to-none. Romney knows that it was Huckabee who defeated his chances of taking the nomination. But, as we all know, politics makes strange bedfellows!
